When I first met him. Continues.........

Then our lecturers asked us to introduce ourselves to them.  One by one stood and mentioned their name and their hometown. First one said 'Good morning everybody. My name is Shilpa and I am from Ranchi" other one said, 'Good morning I am Amitabh and I am from Kolkata' the next candidate," Hello everyone I am Sushmita from Patna" the next one did not sound me interesting so the next one, " Good morning everyone I am Jeet from Delhi". The name of the students made me feel as if I am in a film industry. Well the turn then comes to the guy Kishor Kumar, he stood up and said, "Friends you all know my name well nothing harm to mention again Kishor Kumar Chakraborty people also call me Kishor kumar, well jokes apart and I am from Bangladesh." This sound interesting not only to me but to everybody. It also made me feel strange that he has come from such a long distance to study in India. Nice. This upsurge my interest about him and I was already impresses by  his magic . The other girls sitting beside me  insisted me to ask him to show the magic again. So I proceeded towards him and said," Excuse me!" he turned towards me and nodded his head asking "Yes?" I said," Hi! I am Koel Bhattarcharya. Your magic show was very nice. Me and my friends are really impressed. So we want you to show it again. Please." He smiled and replied, " I don't have anymore paper". Then I said, " Okay  no problem I will provide you with paper. Please show us" he gave a light smile looking at me in a tantalizing manner said'" If it was possible for me to turn any paper into money why should I come to study law?" and went away. It was so embarrassing for me, he just taunted me. How dare he?. It made me feel very insulted in a manner he refused me. Even I was a fool then to ask him to show me magic again. Then one our seniors entered the hall asked us to come to the next class room one by one according to our roll no. while announcing this one of our senior looked at all of us in a manner as if he was finding somebody. Roll no.1 went to their room and after a while when she came back she asked me to go to that room though my roll no. was 30. I was shocked. Okay I went to that room without getting scared." May I come in" I asked they said yes baby come in. Two ladies and one guy was sitting their in a very arrogant manner. They asked, " So you are the Superstar?" I looked at them in a strange way. They said, " Yes! Yesterday you were wearing the T-shirt where it  was written it's not easy being a superstar".  Actually I did not know that any tag on  my t-shirt can also be my name. The guy asked me;" So baby what's your name and where are you from?" I replied, " I am Koel Bhattacharya and I am from Dhanbad.". "hmm" the lady said," Nice name".  " See dear don't hang your cell phone over your neck and put all your belongings in your bag don't hold it in your hand it looks bad" So I like a obedient child said,"Okay mam" then I asked guy," Will you please hold my bag for a while there are so many things in my hand. " Then I asked the lady, " Mam please hold my belongings, I'll put it one by one" . I also had a rose in my hand which we were gifted in the orientation programme, I did not give that to them. And then requested the fellow "will you please open the chain of my bag?"  Now the fool like obedient fellow opened the chain and then I took the belongings from the lady and put into it and bid them bye and left the room.

When I first met him- continues..........

My first day in college

Entrance exams results were out and I got selected. So after counseling I took admission in that college, hostel room was allotted to me for I was about to stay in hostel. It was a residential institute. So my parents left  me in the hostel on 14th July as the classes was about to commenced from 15th July. On 14th July I had to be in the college to fulfill certain formalities as per the norms. I was wearing a pink t-shirt bearing Quotation' It's not easy being a Superstar' having the word 'Superstar' highlighted and I was in a blue jeans, tied my hair tightly back with  pink lip gloss on my lips and one pair long  pink earrings.   While fulfilling the norms I noticed some senior students were gazing at me but I didn't gave it much importance.  The very next day our classes commenced and it was our orientation day. We, hostel girls were really scared as we did not know what our senior going to do with us the next.  So we entered the conference hall it was decorated with flower garlands on the stage some professors were right in front of them below the stage chairs were laid down for us to sit.  The orientation ceremony started one by one professors stood and welcomed us each giving us lectures in their own way in addition there were Retired District Judge Ratanlal Mukherjee, Director and Trustee of our college also and they also cordially welcomed us in the institute and lastly comes our colleges' principle who gave the speech for near about 1/2hr and really made us fall asleep. Some of the lines I remembered;" Students You are LL.B students so do you know the full form of the word" nobody was interested to answer but one who raised his hand was the guy who was sitting in front of me on the entrance exam day. Our principal gladly asked him to give the answer and the fellow replied, " Legum Baccalaureaus" and our principal excitedly appreciated him saying ;"good! you are absolutely correct my son! What's your name?" . The fellow proudly replies "Kishor Kumar Chakraborty" from back everybody laughed even I the fellow seemed to be like a mama's boy and the name he has is like a Bollywood star. The fellow- upps sorry our so called Kishore Kumar embarrasedly looked here and there and again took his place. Our principal again started with his speech;" Students, Why we study Law? What is law? Law has no universally accepted definition but for your understanding umm it's set of rules which are enforced through social institutions. Students we Lawyers speak for those who cannot speak for themselves we must support be of those people who are eagerly in need of Justice, I often see students after getting their LL.B degrees they join MNCs and U.K Law firms but students I requests you don't do this, go for Litigation or Judiciary in your own country.... Go......help poor people who cannot pay fees to the lawyers make them legally aware."  In the mid of the speech Kishor Kumar again raised his hands, sir asked; " Yes.... Mr. Kishor Kumar do you want to ask anything". He replied; "No sir, I just want to give you the reply of your question that you just asked that why we study law?," sir said; 'Yes my son say'. He very boldly left his seat and move towards the stage looked at us, picked a small and showed it to us where it was written 'Law' and he said;" dear friends this paper will give us the actual reply why we study Law?" then he torn the piece of paper and there came a  Rs.100/- note and then said; " Friends this is the actual reason why we study law." All of us could not resist ourselves from laughing and the whole class broke into hysterical laughter even the professors. Our most respectable principal being embarrassed hesitatingly asked the Guy," My son, you are a magician?" . He replied; " not really sir but my father is a magician and I have learned some." This was the first time I really looked at him properly and the mama's boy appeared to me different he has a sharp erected nose, quite intelligent eyes and looks more intelligent wearing spectacles, curly hair broad shoulders with all he has a stunning physical features and also a very descent looks. His all these characteristics really attracted me.
Sir then said; " Nice Joke cracked son go and take your seat". At least for his this joke our principal stopped his boring and let us to introduce ourselves.

When I first met him.

When I first met him.

This is a love story of two souls getting one. Two guys for whom visa, passports, border could not be hindrance  for them to meet. Students of law from same college but two different countries. The girl was from India and the fellow was from Bangladesh.

15th June 2008 I had my Entrance exam for law. I was little bit tensed and busy in revising even in exam center. It was 1.45p.m  when we were called to enter the examination hall. As soon as I entered the examination hall I noticed a fellow passing some comment on me and showing me to another guy  who was staring at me,  I ignored because boys passing comments on me or staring at me was not uncommon to me but any boy not staring at me was an unusual to me. This what happened with me  here in the examination hall for the first time. I took my sit as per my roll no. and on my front sit a fellow was sitting wearing spectacles bit curl hair wearing  blue check shirt, putting his head down, just gave a glimpse at me and turned his head. He just seemed to me a mama's boy. The bell rang exactly at 2p.m and questions paper were distributed to us. Every body got busy in writing even I. In the mid of the examination my question paper fell from the table and it slipped beneath the front bench I whispered," Excuse me" but the guy could not hear me, so not getting any other way I poked him with a pen asking him to give my question paper. At that time he jumped from his bench and looked at me in such a way as if I have either abused him or tried to seduce him.  His looks made me feel irritated. I then just made a gesture to make him understand that I have only wanted him to pick up my question paper and nothing else. Fortunately, he understood what I meant to say and picked up my question paper and again turned his head not even thinking it necessary to reply to my thanks.
Well our exams got over at 5p.m we submitted the paper and everybody started discussing about the paper. Some says" was it a question paper!!!!" some "not bad! what can you expect more easier than this in an entrance exam", even I joined their conversation but the guy in front bench got vanished as soon as the exam got over.

The Woman who turned my hobby into obsession.

The Woman who turned my hobby into obsession.

Since my childhood, dance has been my hobby. I used to give stage performances achieved great applause from audiences and I was happy with it. My only dream was to be a lawyer, Fighting for justice. I wanted to speak for those who are unable to fight for their justice. Then one day came when I got admission in a law college, that is my alma mater S.K.A.I.L. From there my journey begins not only as a lawyer but also as a dancer. Sounds strange?...........

For this LL.B course I had to leave my hometown to Kalyani a very small city nearby Kolkata. There also I wanted to continue with my dance classes but could not find any suitable one. Most of the times I with my friends used to hire dvds for watching movies during our leisure hours. One day there only I found a CD named " Nacho Nataraj" of Kathak.  I could not resist myself from buying it. The very next day I bought it and started practicing watching it. On the cover of the CD it was written by "Alokparna". The woman's gestures, looks, movements all were perfectly blended in accordance with Taal. Throughout the performance she did not miss a step as if communication was going on between her body and  soul. I became so fan of her that I searched her in net and I found her website, where I even got her contact no. Just then something clicked on my mind to continue my dance classes under her. I called and got her appointment for my dance classes.

My first day meeting with her.

It was 3rd March when I first met her. A tall, slender very fair woman in a grey saree with red border, wet open hair standing in balcony called me " Sabarnee come in". Her appearance seemed to me as an angel. Then my class begins.
She taught me all the mudras of Kathak, movements of hands firmly and toes beats while showing these it seemed to me as if she is weaving magic with her toes. I imbibe in myself each and every steps she showed to me.

My classes begins.

Gradually I came  to know about her accolades and conferences she has attended in and outside India.

  • Concert in Canden Centre,London,U.K.
  • Concert  by South Asian Cultural Society, Essex.
  • Concert arranged by I.C.C.R. & Birla Academy of Art & Culture.
  • Uday Shankar Dance Festival.
  • Swarn Nritya Prtibha Festival by Sangeet Natak Academy.
  •   In the region of Kathak dance Alokparna has come to stay.-The Asian Age.
  •     Her vivacious nature was evident in her footwork.-The Hindustan Times.
  • All these were published in newspapers. And there were many.
These were the things that attracted me the most, gradually day by day I was attracted towards her way of teaching and tried to imbibe the style in me. This is how dance turned into my obsession and hardly now a moment pass when I am not dancing. The woman who turned my hobby into my obsession is my Gurumaa "Alokparna Guha".
